29 thg 4, 2025 · Where did you come across the phrase “using at least four carbons on my electric IBM”, Lht011230?Please tell us the source, and give us some context, including the complete sentence in which the phrase appears.

29 thg 11, 2009 · Hello all, my question might be a typical case of splitting hairs since it doesn't make much of a difference whether or not you use the preposition 'at'... but just out of curiosity, can anybody tell me if both of the following sentences are gramatically correct? 1) It …

12 thg 2, 2014 · X is 4% of Y would be another way As long as you avoid a comparative (larger than, less than, smaller than, etc) you can use times or fractions. If you think your audience might be 'arithemtically challenged' (i.e. simply would not understand a fraction like 1/25th) you will need to turn the sentence around and use 25 times bigger than.

3 thg 7, 2007 · Referring to a holiday of a duration of four weeks, which one is correct: (a) a four week holiday (b) a four weeks holiday (c) a four week's holiday (d) a four weeks' holiday If I remember right, (c) is the one to go for although the logical one to me would be (d). Thanks!

2 thg 5, 2007 · bid is twice a day. A latin abbreviation. qd = once daily bid = twice a day tid = three times a day qid = four times a day it is short for bis in die, ter in die and so on.

3 thg 11, 2005 · Today, I can't remember exactly what I was told, but I was told there are cases when you break up quotes you use 3 dots & sometimes 4. I've only ever used 3 even if it was the end of a sentence & there was a period & then I was skipping to another. I think 4 dots is wrong, but perhaps I am...

27 thg 10, 2013 · Twice larger = twice as large = 2 x the size. I thought this had been discussed before, but have not yet found a thread.

18 thg 5, 2007 · But maybe in 'two and two equals four' the subject is 'two and two' (not 'two' and 'two') so then singular..? That should be true. As I said, in German we use the singular for longer calculations, e.g. with roots and multiplications. So the singular sees it as a whole. In Four minus two is two, the plural wouldn't make much sense, would it?

25 thg 1, 2012 · If you are not, and the people you are speaking to might think 'by four times' means to add an amount that is 4× the base amount (making the new total five times the base), then you had better say 'to four times its current level' and give the numbers. Example: 'Increase the capacity of the pump from 400 cc/min to 1600 cc/min.'

12 thg 4, 2006 · Hi everybody, We can tell the time this way: It's one fifteen. It's one twenty. But: It's one oh five. When to add 'oh'? I am wondering whether it's one oh ten or one ten :-< Thank you very much in advance for your help. Regards, Linh (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)
